Final Judging Round of Artisan Awards 2025 held on 16th January at Jio World Conventio Center

17-01-2025   02:45 PM

"We have the greatest tradition of craftsmanship in the world and we (India) can be jewellers to the world," say Dr Usha Balakrishnan, Eminent Historian at Final Judging Round of Artisan Awards 2025 held today at Jio World Conventio Center.

The final Judging Round of Artisan Awards 2025 held today on 16th January at Jio World Conventio Center. Following joined by distinguished personalities as Jury Members for the Judging Process; Dr. Usha Balakrishnan, Eminent Historian; Jay Sagar, Jewellery Specialist at AstaGuru Auction House; Priya Tanna, President,@trscreativeconsulting; Apurva Kothari, Founding Partner of SAVAAB; Apoorva Deshingkar, Sr. Director - Market Outreach and Education, GIA India. Under the theme "Indian Craft Reimagined" the budding designers have made some experimental and innovative collections which has been loved by the jury members.

Talking to AOJ, Eminent Historian Usha Balakrishnan says, 'The most stunning piece of jewellery is Theva though it is dying yet is a stunning artform and to see it coming into an award platform with the theme of Navratna, which is never been done. So this concept is interesting and I think this platform will give a great filip. I also liked the Rudraksh Pattern the orange of the coral and brown of the rudraksh is a beautiful marry. The way some of the enamel work has been done is the one that has been inspired by blue pottery.'

"The idea behind this Artisan Awards is to continue this legacy which is a five thousand old legacy towards to show the path to future generations. India is the only country in the world who handcraft so much jewelleries and I think that's the tradition we should continue and not give up. We have the greatest tradition of craftsmanship in the world and we (India) can be jewellers to the world," Balakrishnan believes.

Sharing his thought to AOJ Jay Sagar, Jewellery Specialist at AstaGuru Auction House says, "I am very impresses by the detailing and the designing and the level of finishing has really blown my head away this time. It is far ahead than what I have seen in the past two years. My favourite piece of Jewellery is with blue enamel very nicely done. I am a fourth generation jeweller and it's a privilege that they call me out and I am very happy to see what the younger generation had to offer to the market.

Indian Artisans are the best in the world, if you see Rajathani Work and Old Indian Work level of detailing and hand work done one cannot compare it to any other in the world. Our country will always be number one in terms of innovation and hand designing and crafting."
