Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair 72nd Edition Shatters Records with Nearly THB 4.7 Billion in Trade Value

19-09-2025   03:30 PM

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) – GIT, announced the resounding success of the 72nd Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair (BGJF), held from 9–13 September 2025 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC). The event generated an unprecedented THB 4.7 billion in trade value, a 26% increase from the previous edition, with over 46,000 trade visitors from around the globe.

Ms. Sunanta Kangvalkulkij, Director-General of DITP, stated “The 72nd Bangkok Gems exceeded all expectations in both visitor turnout and trade value, achieving the highest sales results in the fair’s history. With a record-breaking THB 4.7 billion in trade, surpassing our target by 34%, the fair welcomed 46,129 visitors – a 15.3% rise from last edition – with 61% being international buyers from 121 countries. The top five visiting nations were India, Myanmar, China, Sri Lanka, and Japan. This overwhelming response underscores Thailand’s reputation as a global hub for gems and jewellery.”

This edition featured 1,106 exhibitors across 2,628 booths, filling the entirety of Halls 1–8 (G and LG levels) at QSNCC. The top five most sought-after product categories were colored gemstones, silver jewellery, fine jewelry, machinery and equipment, and diamonds. Colored gemstones alone accounted for more than one-third of total trade value, reinforcing Bangkok’s standing as the world’s largest colored gemstone sourcing hub.

Ms. Sunanta added “This success would not have been possible without the support of 17 government agencies and leading industry associations. Their collaboration has helped elevate Bangkok Gems into one of the world’s top four jewellery trade fairs, establishing Thailand’s role as a premier international trading platform.”

Mr. Sumed Prasongpongchai, Director-General of GIT, further emphasized the positive reception “The fair exceeded expectations in visitor diversity, exhibitor satisfaction, and sales growth. Exhibitors expressed strong confidence in the quality of the show and the sustained rise in sales year after year. Beyond showcasing a full spectrum of gem and jewellery products, the fair also featured vibrant activities, including the special exhibition ‘Gilded Souls: The Ethos of Thai Craftsmanship’, insightful seminars, and a networking reception. Notably, the World Gold Council hosted its international Thailand Gold Forum within the fair, highlighting Bangkok Gems’s global importance as a meeting point for the jewelry industry’s key players.”

Building on this momentum, DITP and GIT announced plans for the 73rd Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair, which will expand its international zone to accommodate over 250 booths. The next edition will take place 22–26 February 2026 at QSNCC.
