GSI upskills Firefly Diamonds on lab-grown diamonds with informative seminar in Mumbai

16-12-2024   02:10 PM

The industry has reached the intriguing crossroad of category diversification and transparency when it comes to diamonds. Natural or man-made, illegal mixing of both damages the trust of every stakeholder involved in the process. As lab-grown diamonds continue to gain traction in the luxury jewellery market, comprehensive knowledge has become essential for industry players. Encouraging transparency, Gemological Science International (GSI) recently held an engaging seminar titled “Mastering Lab-Grown Diamonds” for the sales team of Firefly Diamonds in Mumbai.

The seminar, led by Deepa Srinivasa, Chief Gemologist, GSI India, aimed to deepen the team’s understanding of the rapidly growing market for lab-grown diamonds and equip them with the expertise to address common customer queries. The session provided the Firefly Diamonds’ team with valuable insights into the world of lab-grown diamonds, including the key differences between natural and lab-grown stones. The seminar covered the fundamentals of the 4Cs ? Cut, Colour, Clarity, and Carat, along with in-depth explanations of the two main production methods, Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), and High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT).

Although consumers are increasingly aware of lab-grown diamonds, they often mistake lab-grown diamonds to be fake or simulant stones. To address such misconceptions, GSI’s specialised program not only focused on the science behind lab-grown diamonds, but also prepared the Firefly sales team to confidently handle customer questions, providing clarity on their authenticity and value. The seminar also explored the growing consumer demand for eco-friendly and ethically produced diamonds, positioning lab-grown diamonds as a perfect fit for environmentally conscious buyers syncing with the latest global market trends. This aligned with Firefly Diamonds and their vision of customer satisfaction with transparency at the core.

“Lab-grown diamonds are quickly becoming the next hot trend in the luxury market, and while consumers are intrigued, they often don’t fully understand the technical details of these stones,” said Ramit Kapur, Managing Director of GSI. “At GSI, we believe that empowering retail sales teams with the right knowledge is crucial in delivering a seamless customer experience. Such training programs give sales professionals the tools they need to educate customers, dispel myths, and offer a transparent, informative shopping experience,” he added.

Aayush Bhansali and Adit Bhansali, founders of Firefly Diamonds, jointly quoted, “GSI’s seminar gave our team the knowledge they need to engage with customers on a deeper level, and provide the best possible service. The better informed we are, the better we can serve our clients, and that’s what sets us apart in a competitive market.”

The event concluded with a practical sales training session, introducing a seven-step methodology designed to help the team refine their sales approach and deliver an enhanced customer experience. This seminar is part of GSI’s commitment to empowering industry professionals through education, ensuring that retailers are equipped to navigate the evolving landscape of lab-grown diamonds with confidence.
