GSI and Bharat Ratnam Mega CFC Launch Gem Identification Masterclass to Strengthen Industry Expertise

15-04-2026   01:25 PM

Gemological Science International (GSI), a global leader in gemstone certification and education, in collaboration with Bharat Ratnam Mega CFC, successfully conducted the Gem Identification Masterclass, addressing the growing demand for colored gemstone expertise in the Indian jewellery market. With interest in colored gemstones continuing to rise across India, GSI’s advanced educational programs aim to equip jewelry professionals with the knowledge and practical skills required to confidently navigate this increasingly complex and evolving category.

The Gem Identification Masterclass was designed specifically for industry professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in colored gemstones. The comprehensive curriculum covered key areas including gemstone identification, distinguishing between natural gemstones, simulants, and synthetics, advanced treatments, factors influencing geographic origin, and value determination. Participants also received hands-on training using professional gemological instruments for accurate gemstone identification, an area reflecting GSI’s core laboratory expertise.

“The rise in demand for colored gemstones is rapidly emerging as one of the most significant trends in the global jewelry market, and India is at the center of this shift,” said Ravi Menon, CEO, Bharat Ratnam Mega CFC. “At Mega CFC, we are pleased to collaborate with GSI, leaders in gemological expertise, to refine the skills of industry professionals. Together, we are raising the standard of gemstone education in India and empowering professionals with high-quality, expert training that will make a meaningful impact in the market. The response to this program has been overwhelming and reinforces our belief that this is just the beginning of an exciting transformation.”

“This program is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and confidence required to evaluate gemstone purchases and deliver appropriate quality to their customers,” said Ramit Kapur, Managing Director, GSI India. “By combining strong theoretical foundations with hands-on exposure to professional instruments and real-world materials, the masterclass enables participants to operate with clarity and confidence in an increasingly sophisticated gemstone market.”

The program was led by GSI’s experienced instructors, bringing decades of expertise in gemology, gemstone analysis, and professional education. Participants also benefited from GSI’s extensive global research data and advanced laboratory capabilities, ensuring access to the most current and precise gemological information available.

As the colored gemstone market becomes increasingly competitive and complex, industry professionals must develop deeper technical knowledge to remain competitive. GSI’s Gem Identification Masterclass represents a significant step toward equipping jewelry manufacturers, retailers, and professionals with the expertise required to identify, evaluate, and assess gemstones with confidence and accuracy.

This initiative reflects GSI’s continued commitment to advancing gemological education worldwide by combining industry expertise, advanced technology, and cutting-edge research to develop programs aligned with the evolving needs of the global jewelry industry.
