The All India Gem & Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC) proudly announces the successful conclusion of the 9th edition of the India Gems and Jewellery Show (GJS April 2026), affectionately known as “Humara Apna Show”, held at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai.

The four-day extravaganza, inaugurated on 4th April by Chandrashekhar Bawankule Minister of Revenue, Maharashtra, witnessed overwhelming participation from across the country. With 350 exhibitors, 650 booths, and over 9,000 visitors, GJS April 2026 reaffirmed its stature as India’s premium gem and jewellery trade platform.

Opening Ceremony Highlights

The grand opening ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Minister of Revenue, Maharashtra, as Chief Guest, alongside Guests of Honour Suvankar Sen and Zaverilal V. Mandalia (Zaveri Kaka) of Zaveri & Company (Gujarat) LLP, Ahmedabad. The event also welcomed Special Guest Rajeev Jain, Secretary JJS Kirit Bhansali, Chairman GJEPC Sundarvalli Narayanswami, Chairperson IGPC at IIM Ahmedabad, and Lok Sabha Sansad Rajesh Verma, underscoring the collective strength and unity of India’s gem and jewellery fraternity.

Highlights of GJS April 2026

• Event Kick-off with Manthan: The show began with Manthan, a high-impact research seminar presented by the World Gold Council (WGC), powered by GIA and supported by MCX as Commodity Exchange Partner. Organized by GJC in collaboration with the India Gold Policy Centre (IGPC) at IIM Ahmedabad, Manthan brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to deliberate on Vision 2047, ease of business, and competition challenges. A special highlight was the Exclusive Session for Elite Family Jewellers, featuring renowned international motivational speaker Dr. Vivek Bindra, CEO & Founder of Bada Business and leading business coach, who inspired participants with strategies for growth and resilience.

• Festive Sentiment & Akshay Tritiya Boost: Strategically timed ahead of Akshay Tritiya and the peak wedding season, the show saw strong demand driven by auspicious muhurat buying. Consumers reaffirmed their cultural belief in gold as a safe haven, purchasing even small quantities as a symbol of prosperity and savings.

• Industry Participation: Family jewellers, emerging entrepreneurs, and established brands engaged with equal enthusiasm, showcasing inclusivity and empowerment across the sector.

• Knowledge Sessions: Mindspeak seminars addressed critical topics including technology adoption, profitability, AI, luxury trends, and next-generation jewellery, equipping jewellers to adapt to evolving market dynamics.

• Networking & Glamour: The GJC Nite – Glamour and Networking Evening was a standout highlight, bringing together industry leaders, exhibitors, and stakeholders in an atmosphere of celebration and collaboration. The evening fostered meaningful connections, strengthened partnerships, and showcased the vibrancy of India’s gem and jewellery fraternity. The event was further honored by the presence of Lok Sabha Sansad Rajesh Verma, whose participation added weight to the evening and reinforced the government’s recognition of the industry’s importance.

• Maharashtra State Vigilance Committee Workshop: The final seminar was addressed by Smt. Chitra Wagh, Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC), and attended by Lok Sabha Sansad Rajesh Verma, who together engaged with nearly 300 jewellers from across Maharashtra. During the workshop, GJC emphasized that the gem and jewellery sector is a ₹12 lakh crore business, providing over 1 crore jobs and supporting nearly 5 crore dependents, contributing 7–8% to India’s GDP.

GJC requested the introduction of skill development courses tailored for the jewellery business and a dedicated section for the industry in central government policy. Smt. Wagh assured that the government will support skill development initiatives and confirmed that a vigilance committee will be formed to further enhance and safeguard the jewellery industry.

Chief Guest Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Minister of Revenue, Maharashtra, says, "GJS has welcomed exhibitors from across the country, and the Show and the Council epitomize Protect, Promotion, Progress and showcase the art and craft of jewellers both big and small.
