Exceptional Green Diamond to hog the spotlight at Bonhams Auction

AOJ E-NEWS:A fancy-colour green diamond ring will lead Bonhams’ “Rare Jewels and Jadeite” sale in Hong Kong in May, with the auction house expecting the piece to fetch $400,000 to $490,000.

The radiant-cut, 5.03-carat stone is surrounded by an array of brilliant-cut, pink-tinted diamonds, and lines of similarly cut diamonds run down the ring’s sides, Bonhams said.

Also up for auction is a pair of fancy intense yellow diamond earrings from Forevermark, estimated at $300,000 to $360,000. Each diamond in the set weighs over 5 carats.

The sale, which features 103 lots from Bonhams' curated “Jewels of the World” collection, will focus mainly on coloured gemstones, including a variety of ruby, emerald, sapphire and jadeite jewellery.

Among these are bracelets with 30 carats’ worth of cushion-cut Burmese rubies set among 18 carats of pear- and brilliant-cut diamonds, also valued at $300,000 to $360,000. A pair of emerald-and-diamond earrings consisting of two Colombian emeralds that weigh more than 10 carats each has received a similar valuation. Additionally, a 10.06-carat-ruby ring with pave-set tsavorite garnets and diamonds is expected to sell for $190,000 to $260,000.

The auction will take place on May 31 at Bonhams Hong Kong Gallery.
