GJEPC forms corpus of Rs. 50 crores for the welfare in the wake of COVID -19

26-03-2020   12:0 PM

GJEPC Appeals to its Members to take care of their employees during the lockdown period as stated by the Government.

The world today is undergoing unprecedented difficult times in the wake of COVID-19. India, too is grappled with this deadly pandemic. The world economy has taken a big jolt and the businesses all over have plummeted to their all-time lows.

While the Governments across the globe including Govt. of India , under the strong leadership of our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has initiated proactively every possible measure to contain the spread of this virus, the economic situation doesn’t seem to revive very shortly in the coming few months. Looking at this scenario the Govt has announced certain waiver in compliance and tax filings to mitigate the woes of all industries. We have also represented to the Honourable Finance Minister with the measures that needs to be implemented to revive the Indian gem & jewellery industry from this crisis.

GJEPC has pledged to serve the nation and in particular Indian Gem & Jewellery Industry in every possible manner. We at GJEPC will leave no stone unturned when it comes to protecting and taking care of Industry.

The Gem & Jewellery sector of India, that nurtures 5 million workforce , is one of the sectors with largest labour force employed . It becomes pertinent and mandatory at such distressing times to take adequate care of our employees and support them wholeheartedly.

In our endeavour to combat the situation, GJEPC has decided to create a corpus of Rs. 50 crores , out of its own reserves towards several welfare initiatives to be undertaken in the current scenario.

We sincerely appeal to all our Members to take care of their employees during the lockdown period as also stated by the Govt. and demonstrate a united and humane approach. This is the time to show we care.

We are confident that together we shall emerge victorious from this crisis. In the past too, we have braved many turmoils and this time will be no different. This is the time to show solidarity towards our nation and our Industry. It’s time for us to reveal our philanthropic side once again.
