Alrosa finds huge diamond at its Jubilee Pipe sight

AOJ E-NEWS: Alrosa, world’s top diamond producer by output, reported a new find on 20th June — a 62.75-carat diamond recovered from its very fruitful Jubilee kimberlite pipe.
The precious stone is transparent with a light-yellowish tint. It has an octahedron shape and measures 23 x 16 x 17 mm, according to a press release.
Alrosa, Russian group of diamond mining companies, accounts for more than 29% of global diamond production in terms of carats.
In 2016 alone, the group produced 37.4 million carats of rough diamonds, and now plans to ramp up production to over 41 million carats annually by 2019.
The Jubilee pipe, from which the diamond was recovered, is located in Yakutia, northeast Russia. It is known as one of the most prolific sites Alrosa owns since many large precious rocks varying from 50 to 138 carats were discovered there.
